Hosting Zoom Classes

Introduction

While it might not seem like it, pretty much every classroom can host a Zoom class each classroom will just have a different way to host Zoom classes depending on their type.

Basic Setup

For the most basic setup, all you will need is a laptop with a webcam and digital versions of your course content to share to your students.

Troubleshooting

Frequently asked questions to common issues or misunderstandings and their solutions can be found at the bottom of the page or by clicking the navigation link below.

HyFlex Rooms
Designed for Hybrid Learning

HyFlex classrooms will be equipped with cameras and microphones that are installed on the ceiling and the walls that allow for a presenter to share whiteboards or demonstrations and allow for participation from students in the classroom with students over Zoom.

To take advantage of these features you will need to use the computer at the instructor station as all the devices will be going through it and controlled by the touch panel. Selecting "Join Meeting with Computer Audio" at start-up should be all you need to have your room microphones and cameras connected.

Scheduling Zoom Sessions
For All Platforms

Zoom meetings can either be done by logging into your account on their website, or from the app.

Once you are logged in, you can schedule recurring meetings with the Schedule button either across the top or from the module buttons on the app.

Then in Meetings, select the meeting name you set up and click copy invitation. This text can be placed onto your syllabus or sent out as part of a calendar invite to your students via Canvas.

More information on how to use Zoom can be found on their support website, or in the Grow Your Classroom site.
