Local Area Admissions

Local Area Preference

Applicants are considered "local" if they have graduated from a high school that is historically served by Cal Poly Pomona. First-Time Freshman applicants applying to an impacted program/major will receive "Local Preference" for admission consideration based on our local area designation. Cal Poly Pomona provides an eligibility index bump for local area applicants. In addition, as part of our commitment to providing veterans access, Cal Poly Pomona gives "Local Preference" to all veterans regardless of their institution.

Applicants who apply to non-impacted majors and are from our local area high schools and who meet the minimum CSU eligibility requirements will be admitted. Those applying to impacted majors will receive a "local preference".
