Student Activities
While our summer youth programs are centered on academics, the daily program includes a variety of social and recreational activities in the afternoon and evening hours. These activities are intended to provide students with fresh air, exercise, and social stimulation. Activities are designed for a variety of participant interests with everything from arts and crafts to sports and college-related activities.
Some of the more popular afternoon and evening activities include:
- Arts & Crafts
- Basketball
- Card games and board games
- Flag Football
- Hands-on STEM/STEAM Projects
- Scrapbooking
- Soccer
- Social Dance
- Swimming
- Visit to the Bronco Student Center and Game Room
- Volleyball
- Walking tour of the Arabian Horse Center
- And more!
All activities are organized and supervised by our trained and experienced team of Activities Coordinators and Chaperones.
Students participating in our summer residential programs will eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the university's new Centerpointe Dining Commons. Centerpointe is nestled between the university's new residence halls and the Student Services Building. This new facility, which opened Jan. 21, 2020, offers fresh and local menus for the Cal Poly Pomona community and university guests.
With seating for 680, Centerpointe includes eight dining platforms with delicious and nutritious food stations featuring items such as handmade tortillas, sushi, a carving station, a salad bar featuring campus grown produce, and plenty of vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free and vegetarian options.
The menu boards at each platform highlight nutritional information, allergens and food preference mapping. In addition, each menu contains a nutrition tool (updated by the Dining Services in-house nutritionist) for customers to determine which food options best fit their nutritional needs and goals.
Two new retail outlets within Centerpointe — Lollicup Fresh® and Jones Coffee Roasters® —offer coffee beverages, flavored milk tea, fruit tea, grab and go items, slushes and smoothies.
Students participating in any of the summer residential youth programs hosted by the College of the Extended University receive:
