Dr. Camille Johnson is the incoming Dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. Having grown up in Claremont, she has deep connections to the area and is excited to be returning home. A scholar and higher education professional with expertise in inclusive student and faculty success. As a social psychologist, Dr. Johnson’s research has examined interracial interactions, first-generation college student performance, and analyses of women’s representation in the social sciences. An accomplished scholar and professional leader, she is an elected fellow of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, for which she also serves as treasurer. In addition, she promoted women higher education as the State Chair of the ACE Women’s Network – Northern California. 

Dr. Johnson earned her bachelor’s in Psychology from Carleton College, her master’s in Applied Psychology from Claremont Graduate University, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from The Ohio State University. She completed a fellowship at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business before beginning a tenure-track position at San José State University.
