Founded in 1963, the Cal Poly Pomona Music Department has grown into a leading institution in artistic education. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), our department offers a comprehensive curriculum guided by our esteemed faculty members, serving over 200 majors who share a passion for music and commitment to excellence.

Our diverse undergraduate programs, including a Bachelors of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Music in Performance, Composition, Music Ed/Pedagogy, and the pioneering Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Studies, offer you specialized paths to cultivate your talents. Every semester the highly anticipated Songwriter Showcase celebrates the creativity and talent of our student songwriters. This dynamic showcase provides a platform for students to perform their original compositions in front of an enthusiastic audience, including fellow students, faculty, and the broader community.

Bachelor of Arts in Music
Provides a broad education in music theory, history, and performance within a liberal arts context.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Studies
One of the oldest programs in California. Provides a comprehensive understanding of music business, including technology, production, marketing, and management. Offers unique internship opportunities and connections with the Los Angeles music scene.

Bachelor of Music in Performance
Specialize in Guitar, Keyboard, Classical Instruments, Voice, or Commercial Music. Focus on technical proficiency and artistic development through solo and ensemble work.

Bachelor of Music in Composition
Training in compositional techniques, orchestration, and contemporary practices. Prepares you for careers as composers and arrangers.

Bachelor of Music in Pedagogy (Pre-Credential)
Prepares you for teaching music in schools. Meets the "Subject Matter Competency" requirement for the Single Subject Credential in Music.

Music Minor
