Developing a Study Abroad Program

(Date/Times: TBA)

Join the Office of Study Abroad to learn about how you can work with our staff to develop a new study abroad program. If you have a program or course idea, be ready to discuss it and receive feedback. If you don’t have a solid idea, that’s okay, too – we hope you’ll find inspiration by attending the workshop. Some program models we will discuss include:

  • Global University Partnerships
  • Exchange Programs (Semester/Year-Long)
  • Short-term Faculty-Led Programs
  • Affiliate Programs
  • Virtual Exchange
  • Global Classroom

This workshop is required for faculty submitting a new program proposal for the first time.

Faculty-Led Program Proposal Workshop

(Date/Times: TBA)

Faculty and lecturers are encouraged to attend an upcoming Faculty-Led Program Proposal Workshop. This workshop will introduce the faculty-led program model, provide an overview of the program development process, and provide some resources to get started. This workshop will also walk faculty step-by-step through the proposal, as well as the proposal review process.

This workshop is required for faculty submitting a new program proposal for the first time.

Pre-Departure Workshop for Faculty Program Directors

(Date/Times: TBA)

Held each spring semester, the goal of the workshop is to help faculty program directors prepare for their upcoming summer abroad. OSA staff will share best practices on a variety of topics, including faculty responsibilities, financial considerations, managing student expectations and conduct, emergency response, and case studies from previous programs. Faculty veterans will be asked to share their experience. OSA staff will contact each faculty program director with an invitation.

Virtual Exchange Training

(Date/Times: TBA)

This training program helps faculty design and incorporate virtual international content and communication activities into existing courses. Through virtual exchange, faculty can connect their CPP classes with students and faculty abroad to collaborate on assignments, acquire global perspectives on a given discipline, and develop intercultural competence skills.
