Cornerstone Platform

The Cornerstone Performance Management system is a business solution that will help our campus digitize and dramatically improve the current manual and antiquated performance evaluation process for the Management Personnel Plan (MMPs) group. The goal is to guide and support CPP leadership in effectively managing, developing, assessing, and recognizing employees to celebrate leadership successes. It automates an ongoing processes around performance reviews, goals, competency, and development planning.  While MMPs will be the primary pilot group for initial phase of the implementation, the remaining staff will be part of phase two. 

The Cornerstone platform will:
  • Align goals to organizations and manage business strategies and goals to determine how an employee's performance impacts business outcomes
  • Define observation ratings and methods based on a pre-defined competency library
  • Create and assign goals directly to employees to focus their work efforts on the appropriate priorities via tasks and targets
  • Perform competency assessments to acknowledge employee successes and to identify skill gaps to close or strengthen for developmental opportunities
  • Complete observation checklists so managers can assess employees as they perform their job function(s) to provide meaningful and timely feedback
  • Track accomplishments, competency assessments, goal achievements, employee development, and future goal settings, as well as plan forward oriented actions
  • Allow managers to quickly identify employees who meet specific role qualifications
  • Identify gaps and improvement areas – such as additional training and support
  • Run or schedule reports on-demand for access to completion data, upcoming deadlines or specific competency achievement by roles or organizational units

Cal Poly Pomona is aware that the Cornerstone system has limitations when using assistive technology and keyboard only. Assistive technology users may not be able to effectively navigate the portal or complete a performance evaluation.

Accommodations

Cornerstone users who encounter a barrier with the tool may contact the Employee & Labor Relations department at elr@cpp.edu as soon as possible with the accommodation request and contact information.
