Jazz Band

The Cal Poly Pomona Jazz Band is a gathering of students who are dedicating their time and energy to learn the skills, techniques, and performance practices of big band music. The group performs each term in one or more of the several venues on campus.

The ensemble will rehearse a broad selection of repertoire by jazz composers from around the world, from a diversity of composers and from all style periods. Students will expand their knowledge of the jazz repertoire on an experiential level and improve their self-confidence and poise through public performance. Students will improve their musicianship skills such as pitch accuracy and sight-reading.
