Audio Technology and Recording Arts
Music Technology Lab
The Cal Poly Pomona music technology lab houses 24 iMac workstations, each equipped with an audio interface, microphone, digital keyboard, and Ableton Push 2 controller. Additionally, each workstation is loaded with up-to-date versions of Ableton Live Suite, Pro Tools, and Sibelius, as well as other selected audio software. The lab is open during regular weekly hours to all students who have enrolled in at least one music technology class (e.g. MU 1080, MU 2281, etc.).
Recording Facilities
The Cal Poly Pomona Department of Music houses an audio recording studio complex that doubles as classrooms for music recording coursework. This complex consists of two recording labs, Studios A & B. The Music Department maintains these professional-quality studios as pedagogical tools so that students may obtain the same experiences as they would throughout the music and entertainment industries.
Cal Poly Pomona embraces the “learn by doing” experiential approach to education. Students enrolled in music recording coursework therefore have extensive hands-on access to the recording studios.
Both studios are equipped with:
- State-of-the-art, ProTools Ultimate digital audio workstations
