Position Description: The Early Childhood Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin the academic year of 2025-2026. We seek an individual with expertise in Early Childhood Education (PK-3rd Grade) who possesses a doctorate in Early Childhood Studies, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field. A demonstrated commitment to culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogy, anti-racism, and equity in early childhood is required. The position's responsibilities will be primarily to teach, advise students, engage in scholarship leading to publications, and provide service that includes the early childhood broader professional community. Applicants who are ABD will be considered with the understanding that they must have a conferred doctorate prior to the start of the start date.
Minimum Requirements include:
- Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Studies, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field from an accredited university by August 2025;
- Evidence of at least one year of classroom teaching experience in PK-grade 3; and
- Evidence of commitment to social justice, linguistically, and culturally responsive early childhood practices. Evidence should be provided in one or more of the following required documents: Cover Letter, Research Statement and/or Teaching Philosophy.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of commitment to social justice within the early childhood professional community;
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration. Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines (e.g., special education, social work, public health) to create integrated approaches to early childhood education;
- Evidence of ongoing scholarship related to Early Childhood Education;
- Active participation in Early Childhood/Child Development professional associations and/ or networks related to area of expertise;
- Experience working with or building partnerships with local schools, families, and community organizations to enhance early childhood education outcomes and advocate for equity
- Expertise in social-emotional learning (SEL) and/or guiding children’s behavior;
- Experience with teaching credential/licensure teacher preparation coursework;
- Experience teaching in higher education;
- Experience and/or interest in program and course development and alignment;
- Evidence of teaching excellence;
- Experience working with or building partnerships with local schools, families, and community organizations to enhance early childhood education outcomes and advocate for equity.

Part-Time Instructors
Position Title: Part-Time Instructors for Early Childhood Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona)
Job Summary: The Early Childhood Studies Department at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, is growing so rapidly that we are seeking part-time instructors who will contribute to the department’s mission, that is to foster a student-centered, active learning environment where students take theory into practice using a social justice lens that values inclusivity and diversity, and advocates for ethnic/racial, gendered, and other underrepresented individuals in society. We seek part-time instructors who have the competencies to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive difference in the lives of children from prenatal to age eight and their families.
The Early Childhood Studies Department (ECS) at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) is accepting applications for its hiring pool for lecturer instructors with expertise in early childhood special education (children aged 0-age 8). We are seeking candidates who have experience with student-centered experiential teaching pedagogies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely related field of study
- Experience teaching early childhood education
- Evidence of continuing professional development and/or service in the field of Early Childhood
- Availability to a varied schedule during the day (8:30 AM-8:00 PM) and Saturdays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree
- Experience teaching in a baccalaureate granting institution
- Teaching experience and other professional experience with young children and their families
- Experience supervising students in practicum
- Evidence of ability to develop a sense of community in the classroom and strong rapport with students
- Evidence of a strong command of instructional technology (Canvas, iPads, etc.)
- Evidence of a strong sense of collegiality
- Evidence of an ability to assess teaching and learning effectiveness and revise instruction accordingly
- Evidence in social and racial equity advocacy work in early childhood
- Flexibility in possible teaching schedule (day, evenings and weekend)
- Flexibility in different teaching modalities (face to face, virtual, hybrid, )

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically in Ranges 2 and 3. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
