Dr. Guzman received a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science Engineering from Donetsk National Technical University in Ukraine, and an M.S. in Information Management and a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology from Syracuse University. She has extensive industry experience in IT management and compliance within the banking sector, as well as a long-standing academic and administrative background in online doctoral programs in business and information systems.

She is a Fulbright alumnus and an active member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) SIGMIS Computers and People Research (CPR), ISACA, the Association of Information Systems (AIS), the Academy of Management, and ISACA. Dr. Guzman served as the 2021–2024 President of the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the Association of Information Systems (LACAIS).

She is also a research consultant for the project Latin American Open Data for Gender Equality Policies Focusing on Leadership in STEM, funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Grant 109798 as part of the Gender in STEM Research Initiative. In addition, she is Co-Principal Investigator of a National Science Foundation (NSF) Award 2434925 focused on advancing research in the field of information systems and education.
