Mental Health Resources

The JED Foundation

The JED Foundation's Mental Health Resource Center provides important information about student mental health issues.  It provides information on how students can support one another and overcome challenges during their stage of life.  You may access the JED Foundation's Mental Health Resource Center information as a resource for yourself, a fellow classmate, or your student.

If you, or someone you know, needs to talk to someone immediately, there are crisis and support services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  These services are free and confidential, and with a trained mental health professional.  CalPolyPomona students may utilize Counseling and Psychological Services' Crisis Intervention Services by coming in to CAPS during business hours, or you may telephone us at (909) 869-3220, and press Option 2, after business hours.

Students and community members may also access the following crisis resources:

  • Suicide and Crisis Lifeline - Text or Call 9-8-8
  • Crisis Text line - Text HOME to 741741
  • Veteran's Crisis Line - Text 838255, or Dial 9-8-8 then press Option 1
  • Los Angeles County Department of Mental Heath Help Line - (800) 854-7771

Sometimes it is not obvious that someone is hurting emotionally.  There are signs and symptoms that one can be aware of that may help others feel cared for, understood, and get them connected to resources.  SuicideIsPreventable.org seeks to educate everyone on how to look for the signs, find the words to support someone struggling, and reach out for help.
