Cultivating Visual and Historical Narratives
The Department of Art’s curriculum focuses on the development of studio and academic endeavors, creative problem solving, aesthetic analysis, and development of art. Portfolio reviews and mock interviews are regularly conducted to give students an edge in professional design development, internships and employment.
Common career paths for those with a visual communication design degree are web development, multimedia art and animation, marketing, public relations and commercial and industrial design. Careers in art history include teaching at all levels and multiple aspects of work in museums, the art market, publishing, collections management, and cultural conservation. The department also offers two undergraduate minor programs: Art History (18 units) and Studio Arts (24 units).

Visual Communication Design (BFA)
Visual Communication Designers create images that may interpret, inform, instruct, persuade, or entertain.
Art History (BA)
Art history is an academic discipline concerned with the production, consumption, and experience of art, architecture, design, mass media, and other artifacts that manifest themselves visually or tangibly.
Art History Minor
Students considering pursuing a Minor in Art History will find that it enriches also study in a related major in design and the humanities. This field of study will enhance your understanding of ancient and modern cultures.
Studio Arts Minor
