With its diverse student body and practitioner-faculty, the Department of Architecture prepares individuals to make knowledgeable, thoughtful, socially and environmentally responsible contributions to professional practice. Students in our nationally ranked programs learn to join theory and practice in the design studio in a hands-on approach to solving real-world problems – providing an advantage in a competitive job market.

The department is a pioneer in providing specializations, such as the West Coast’s first Healthcare Architecture Initiative, Historic Preservation and Sustainability degree concentrations.
