Bilingual Chemistry Workshop (Spanish/English)

Postdocs Dr. Moisés Bravo and Dr. Ana García Álvarez are hosting a Bilingual Chemistry Workshop (Spanish/English) for chemistry students with an interest in bilingual communication. The goal of the workshop is to introduce chemistry terminology and colloquial terms/examples to allow for bilingual science communication. For research students, we can begin to build a practical vocabulary that would help in translating and presenting scientific research in both English and Spanish. 

Light snacks will be provided.

Join chemunity in making a periodic table from tiles to display in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department! We will supply tiles, tile markers, and stencils. Come and pick your favorite element to make a tile of!

Dr. Zachary Thammavongsy from Santiago Canyon College will give a talk titled "The Game of Chem." During Dr. Thammavongsy's presentation, he will share relevant insights connecting his scholarly pursuits with his entrepreneurial endeavors, while emphasizing the importance of strong mentorship and a solid support system. Attendees can anticipate a blend of anecdotes from his graduate school experience, demonstrations of chemistry games, and opportunities to win chemistry-themed prizes. 

Pizza will be provided, and Dr. Thammavongsy will meet with interested students for Q&A following the seminar in 8-344.
