Marker Courses

  • BIO 211/L
  • BIO 450
  • Organic Chemistry series: CHM 314-316 & lab

Milestones-Remain in the quarter system if the student:

  • will be graduating by Spring 2020
  • or, has taken >2/3 (66 quarter units) of the core courses (75 units of required core + 24 units of electives)

Flexibility in Quarter Curriculum

  • Use STA 1300 or any 1000-2000 level STA course to substitute BIO 211/L
  • Use BIO 4610 or BIO 4410 for BIO 441 requirement; one semester unit is okay, just petition with any spare 0.5 quarter unit (QU).
  • Use BIO BIO 4320/L or 4360/L for BIO 451/L
  • Only one biochem course is required (CHM 3210 or 3270/L). Use electives from cluster 1, 2, 3 courses to replace the missing biochem units.
  • Electives – allows the excess units count toward electives, e.g. BIO 2060/L (3/1 à 6 Q units), BIO 2300 (1 = 1.5 QU), CHM 2210/L (2/2 = 6 QUs), CHM 3140 (4 = 6 QUs), BIO 4320/L or 4360/L (3/1 = 6 Q units), many others.
