CEIS Mentors

Dr. Christina Chavez-Reyes is a professor within Cal Poly Pomona’s Liberal Studies department. Her research interests include higher education, at-risk youth, service learning, community engagement and participation, liberal arts education, undergraduate teacher candidates, undergraduate teacher education, family/parent involvement, Mexican American students, liberal studies, and interdisciplinary.

Dr. Jose Aguilar-Hernandez is an adjunct professor within Cal Poly Pomona’s Ethnic & Women’s Studies department. His research interests include social movements, critical race theory, educational history, Chicana feminisms, and queer people of color.

Dr. Aguilar-Hernandez mentored Cohort 16’s Daniel Grajeda in conducting his own independent research project as part of the McNair Scholars Program.

Dr. Anita Jain is an assistant professor within Cal Poly Pomona’s Ethnic & Women’s Studies department. Her areas of interest include the feminine experience, queer theory, diasporic trauma, and migration.

Past research that Dr. Jain has been involved with studied performative masculinity (PDF). Dr. Jain mentored Cohort 16’s Ryan Hall in conducting his own independent research project as part of the McNair Scholars Program.

Dr. Jocelyn Pacleb is an assistant professor within Cal Poly Pomona’s Ethnic & Women’s Studies department. Her areas of research involve Asian American contemporary issues.

Dr. Pacleb mentored Cohort 16’s Kimberly Vongnalith in conducting her own independent research project as part of the McNair Scholars Program.
