Emerging Scholars Scholarship
Mission
The Emerging Scholars Scholarship is dedicated to helping low-income, first-generation students, who are entering Cal Poly Pomona from high school. The transition from high school to college is a challenging time for all entering students, but especially difficult for those who are from a low-income and first-generation background. We hope that this scholarship can financially assist individuals through this difficult transition from high school to college. Our goal is to support these individuals in their path to higher education by jumpstarting the initial process.Vision
The vision of the Emerging Scholars scholarship fund hopes to promote higher-education to those who are low-income, first-generation freshmen college students in hopes to create an easier transition into college. With this support we hope to create future leaders within the Cal Poly Pomona community.About the Founders
Marwa Mhtar and Su Yeon Kim are two Cal Poly Pomona students who come from a low-income first generation background. We both have experienced the obstacles and difficulties students from our background have faced while attending college. Coming from immigrant parents, we understand the pressures that come with being a first-generation college student, which is why we have worked to create this scholarship.
