Polykroma 2017- Annual Art Department Student Shows

PolyKroma 2017, celebrating Fine Arts, Art History and Graphic Design on campus with its 2D3D Juried Art Exhibition, Art History Papers Presentation and Industry Night - a senior Graphic Design exhibition - presented concurrently at the Kellogg University Art Gallery. These exhibitions feature the “best of” Cal Poly Pomona’s Art History and Graphic Design students. The 2D3D Juried Art Exhibition is an annual juried student exhibition, featuring fine art and graphic design by students at all academic levels. Jurors include experts in the fields of fine art and graphic design/illustration. This year’s jurors are: fine artist and graphic designer, Nancy Haselbacher; WONGDOODY Executive Creative Director Pam Fujimoto; and the Creative Director of Content & Merchandising for Planet Art and CPP Alum, Eugene Amo. Graduating Art History students are given the opportunity to present their abstracts of their final thesis papers. The papers are the culmination of two quarters of guided independent study, the senior capstone course, in which the students refine their skills of research and ability to interpret visual and material culture. The range of paper topics chosen by the students reflects the breadth of cultures and periods to which they were exposed in the art history program. Industry Night is a special invitation to outside industry professionals to view graduating seniors’ graphic design portfolios, projects, and motion graphics presentations with exposure to potential job opportunities being offered. 2017’s Industry Night exhibits senior graphic design portfolios and collateral material from the Professional Practices in Graphic Design capstone course. The portfolios include culled work from the totality of the student’s experience at Cal Poly Pomona. The resulting exhibition is a team effort that represents progressive accomplishments achieved throughout the curriculum.
