Five contemporary artists from mainland China will display their work at the W. Keith and Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery from Nov. 4 to Dec. 12. A reception for the artists, which is free and open to the public, will be Nov. 6 from 5-8 pm.
Wang Yigang, Wu Wei, Zhao Lixian, Liu Jian and Wang Guangyi will be part of the exhibit, "Pop Vision", which crosses three types of Chinese art trends: political pop, cynical realism and new realism.
The artists use their crafts as outlets for their statements on political and popular culture. The works reflect subjects like the family unit, the voiceless, political propaganda and the representation of women.
