Beware of Phishing Emails, Messages, and Scams

The Cal Poly Pomona community is currently experiencing targeted phishing emails and text messages. These are fraudulent and intendto gain access to your campus account and personal information by threatening account expirations or promising student job offers.

NOTE - CPP staff will never ask you for your Bronco credentials or MFA authorization or to submit a form with this information.

How to Protect Yourself - Think Before You Click

  1. Never provide your BroncoID or BroncoPassword or authorize any Duo Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on applications not listed among the online resources in MyCPP. If you are unsure, contact the IT Service Desk.
  2. Be suspicious of any unsolicited communication (email or text) requesting personal information or immediate action, even when it arrives from a cpp.edu email address. Contact the requesting office or person using a different communication method, such as a direct phone call using the number provided on cpp.edu's website. If you aren't sure, contact the IT Service Desk.
  3. Don't submit an unknown form requesting personal information from an unverified source.
  4. Always verify the source before responding. Use a different communication message to verify the source, but don't reply to the email or message. Use Bronco411 to verify the sender is appropriate in the context of the message.
  5. Don't click or follow links if unsure of the message's source.
  6. Don't paste URLs into your browser.

If you receive a suspicious email or text message, forward it to suspectemail@cpp.edu or contact the IT Service Desk at www.cpp.edu/ehelpimmediately.

If You Think Your Bronco Account is Compromised - If you mistakenly provided your BroncoAccount credentials or authorized an MFA request, reset your Bronco password immediately (or via the CPP home page footer). Contact the IT Service Desk if you need assistance.
