ArcGIS Online (AGOL) Accounts Now Available Through Single Sign On

ArcGIS Online, the special mapping, data collection, and analysis software as a service (SaaS) is accessible through CPP single sign-on (SSO). Current users of AGOL will continue to have access to their account and should coordinate with Manny Ainza, the GIS administrator for migration at their convenience. All new accounts must use SSO.

ArcGIS Online is a web based, no code platform for collection and sharing of single, interactive, and complex maps. Users can import custom datasets, filter, search, and export information using its streamlined workflow. This differs from the more robust, locally installed software, ArcGIS Pro, which has greater functionality than AGOL but still requires an AGOL account to use. For more information view the article at Single Sign-On enabled today or contact Manny Ainza.

Canvas Integrations

Integrations allow other software to connect with the Canvas learning management system. For example, many textbooks have Canvas integrations that allow students to access assignments directly from Canvas and faculty to record the grades in the Canvas Gradebook.

Adopting a new Canvas integration involves several departments, including CAFE, IT&IP, the Bronco Bookstore, and Procurement. Every potential integration must be evaluated ensuring that the technology is secure, maintains user privacy, is accessible, and has sustainable funding. In short, adopting a Canvas integration is a significant decision.

Canvas Integration Procedures

Evaluation and adoption may take several months and requires significant input from the requestee. Visit Canvas LMS Integrations for examples and more information.

Higher Education is a Frequent Target of Phishing and Scams

Phishing emails, text messages, and other communications are evolving as fraudsters attempt to compromise your BroncoAccount, steal personal information, and phish additional victims with your account.

Note: CPP staff, faculty, students, and affiliated vendors will never send unsolicited messages asking you to provide your Bronco credentials (name and password), MFA authorization, or submit a form requesting this information.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Never provide your BroncoID, BroncoPassword to anyone.
  • Never authorize a DUO Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) from another person or a non-CPP affiliated webpage.
  • Be suspicious of any unsolicited communication requesting personal information or immediate action, even when it arrives from a cpp.edu email address.
  • Verify the source using Bronco411.
  • Don't click or follow any links.
  • Don’t paste URLs into your browser.
  • Don't submit forms requesting personal or sensitive information from an unverified source.
  • Always use a unique password for each of your online accounts.
  • Don’t use your cpp.edu email address for non-Cal Poly Pomona services.

Responding to a phishing attempt makes you and our community more likely to be targeted in the future; including any personal contact information you provide.

Exercise diligence in reviewing and responding to emails and text messages. Additional tips for spotting email phishing and scams are provided at our eHelp Phishing and Scams Article and Information Security page.

When you receive a suspicious email, text message, or other communication, forward it to suspectemail@cpp.edu and contact the IT Service Desk at https://www.cpp.edu/ehelp.
