Holiday Cybersecurity Awareness

The holiday season is a prime time for shopping, as well as hackers, scammers, and online thieves. Cybercriminals search for weaknesses and use social engineering to extract personal and financial information, often using phishing emails, social media, text messages, voicemails, phone calls, and app notifications. In 2022, $281 million was stolen by criminals, according to The Internet Crime Complaint Center's (IC3) annual report, and credit card fraud accounted for $264 million in losses.

Service Notices

Summary: IT&IP will perform planned maintenance and upgrades on November 30 and December 3 for Duo, Peoplesoft, and Campus Wi-Fi.

Duo

Thursday evening, November 30, at 9:30 p.m., the appearance and user experience of Duo on Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) websites and connected services will change:

  • You will immediately receive a push notification without needing to take any action if you have an Android or iOS device that currently receives push notifications.
  • Click or tap Other Options to send a push to your secondary device(s).
  • An example of the new Duo Universal Prompt is pictured in the Duo 2-Step Authentication eHelp article under Frequently-Asked Questions.

Peoplesoft

Peoplesoft will be unavailable Thursday, November 30, from 6 to 9:00 p.m. and December 3, from midnight to 6 a.m. All student administration, human resources, and financial functions will be unavailable.

BroncoDirect/PeopleSoft services impacted include:

  • BroncoDirect/Student Center
  • Class Enrollment
  • Payments
  • Degree Progress Reports
  • Class Search
  • HR Self-Service
    • Time & Labor
    • Absence Management
  • Student Employment Module
  • Part-Time Faculty Module
  • HR Reports
  • Common Financial System
  • General Ledger
  • Accounts Receivable

During this planned service interruption outside our regular maintenance windows, users will continue to be able to access MyCPP, Canvas, email, and other IT services. Areas in MyCPP that display information from BroncoDirect/PeopleSoft will be unavailable. The Division of Information Technology and Institutional Planning tries to minimize the time systems are unavailable outside our standard maintenance windows. PeopleSoft system maintenance is an exception because the Chancellor's Office schedules maintenance for all CSU campuses.

Campus Wi-Fi

The On-campus Wi-Fi network will be unavailable for 30 minutes on Thursday, November 30, between 10 p.m. and midnight.

  • Sundays, 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
