Request I-20
What is an I-20?
An I-20 is a multi-purpose document issued by a U.S. government-approved educational institution certifying that a student has been admitted to a full-time study program and has demonstrated sufficient financial resources to stay in the United States. The I-20 is officially titled the “Certificate of Eligibility” because it allows an individual to apply for an F-1 student visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
Who Should Request It?
- Non-U.S. citizens who have never studied in the United States
- Non-U.S. citizens who are transferring from a secondary school, college or university in the United States
- Non-U.S. citizens who are switching their current visa status to the F-1 visa
- Non-U.S. citizens who are returning from a leave of absence from the United States that is greater than 5 months.
Important:
I-20's can be requested after students are admitted
- Financial documents must be current (no older than 3 months before submitting the I-20 Request)
