Paris and Reillanne
This summer program is taught and coordinated by faculty in the Landscape Architecture Department and will take place in Paris and Reillanne, France. During the four weeks, students will learn about the history of French landscapes and contemporary professional practice through direct interactions with places and people. Cultural immersion, intercultural competency, global ecological concerns, and collaborative interdisciplinary learning are some of the core values infused throughout the program. Students will have the opportunity to trace the rich history of Paris, the City of Lights, through the study of public spaces from the 17th to 21st century, along with the rigorous urban planning that shaped its evolution. Students will also be immersed in the local culture through interactions with the local community of Reillanne, a small town in the Luberon region of Southern France, to join forces with local students to develop a design-build-performance project.
