Design For Good: CPP's first 24-hour design-a-thon

At the end of this month, Cal Poly Pomona's student chapter of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) is partnering with AIGA-Long Beach to host CPP's first design-a-thon, Design For Good. For 24 hours from Jan. 26 to Jan. 27, participants will design visual materials for two non-profit organizations: the university's Bronco Dreamers Resource Center for undocumented students, and Project Sister Family Services, a rape crisis center in Pomona.

If you or anyone you know are interested in joining the design-a-thon, please send a PDF that shows your best work and personality to aigacpp@gmail.com. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 19.

In addition to helping the non-profits, participants walk away from the experience with new portfolio pieces, new professional connections, and the opportunity to put real-world client work on your resume. Providing feedback and critiques are Augustín Gonzáles Garaza, an AIGA Fellow and member of the AIGA National Board of Directors; and Gabriella Sanchez, a freelance illustrator and designer whose clientele include Nike, Refinery29, Facebook, Toyota, Tumblr and Nordstrom's. More professionals will be announced as the design-a-thon gets closer.
