Congratulations to the 2020 Cal Poly Pomona Student Research Delegation!

CSU East Bay hosted the 34th Annual CSU-wide Student Research Competition virtually. Students Delegates from each CSU campus presented their research through video and then joined together on Friday, April 24th for a live Zoom Meeting session to answer judge and audience questions. Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) Student Delegate video submissions are available through the CPP Streaming service. You must have CPP log in credentials to view the videos.

We would like to thank the student delegates for taking part in the CSU-wide Student Research Competition (CSU SRC). The CSU SRC was composed of 190 student researchers, from 23 of the CSU campuses, who competed in 21 sessions for first and second place recognition. This year one student presentation received recognition.

CSU Winner

Lorena Bennett

2nd Place, Engineering and Computer Science, Undergraduate

Title: Solid Analysis of a USAB-HRAP System in Brazil

Faculty Mentors: Monica Palomo (College of Engineering, Civil Engineering) and Matthew Verbyla (CSU San Diego)

“Lorena became very passionate about the topic when she realized that further research with the system to improve water quality of the effluent could lead to a system that could be used in the U.S. to help disadvantaged communities. She was challenged because she had to work with professors, doctorate and graduate students from different institutions; all of these experiences have helped her to become a stronger communicator and problem solver.” - Dr. Monica Palomo
