EML Professor Takes Prize in Public Humanities Contest

Professor Liam Corley was selected from scores of faculty applications from around the country to give a public presentation of his research on veterans in American Literature at the Modern Language Association’s annual convention in Chicago on January 5, 2019. Eight participants in the “Humanities in Five” panel gave five-minute presentations in accessible language on their current research projects. The contest was judged by Chicago journalists and was hosted by Scott Jaschik of Inside Higher Ed. MLA President Anne Ruggles Gere, Gertrude Buck Collegiate Professor at the University of Michigan, organized the contest to provide models of public-facing scholarship for scholars working in the humanities.
