Cal Poly Pomona students achieved 1st Place at the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) SoCal Regionals held this past weekend, November 16-17, at Coastline College
The competition spanned the weekend, with Senior Information Technology Security Analyst Curtis Carpenter (’16, ’21 master’s in information security) supporting the team on Friday and Saturday, and Indira Guzman, Fulbright alumnus and assistant professor of computer information systems and cybersecurity, on hand for the celebratory winning moment on Sunday. Special thanks to Dan Manson, Professor Emeritus, Computer Information Systems at Cal Poly Pomona, who also attended and took photos.
CPTC SoCal Regionals 2024 Top Results:
- 1st Place: Cal Poly Pomona
- 2nd Place: National University
- 3rd Place: University Texas, Austin

The CPP team will now compete at the CPTC10 Global Finals which will take place at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York, from January 18th to 20th, 2025.
