Dr. Jared Oakley

Dr. Oakley is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Cal Poly Pomona. He received his MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration from the University of Memphis. His research focuses on sales force management, salesperson effectiveness, impression management, and the role of gender in B2B sales. Before moving into academia, Dr. Oakley worked for FedEx Corporation for many years in various capacities that included sales management, sales training, international salesperson, and a marketing analyst. He is currently the co-director of the Cal Poly Pomona Center for Consultative Sales. Dr. Oakley’s publications have appeared in high ranked journals such as Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing. He teaches multiple classes including Marketing Strategy, International Marketing, Sales Force Management, and Professional Selling. Dr. Oakley works closely with both local and Fortune 500 firms to bring realism to the classroom. He is the Advisor for Pi Sigma Epsilon and has led them to regional and national championships in several sales competitions. His efforts earned him various recognitions including Faculty Advisor of the Year, the IBM Faculty of the Year Award two times, and the Provost Teacher-Scholar Award.
