Services Offered by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS - For Students Only)

Walk-In Services: CAPS main office, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

After-Hours Crisis Services: Call (909) 869-3220; Option 2

Workshops:

  • Title: Wildfires: Coping with the aftermath
  • Dates available:
    • January 28th at 10am
    • January 29th at 12pm
  • Location: Counseling and Psychological Services. Building 66-116 (bookstore building)
  • Description: This psychoeducational workshop will provide students with a basic understanding about trauma responses. Students will also learn basic coping skills to manage their thoughts, feelings, and reactions.
  • Registration: Student can register on their HealthPortal under Groups/Workshops or just drop-in. (https://myhealthportal.cpp.edu/)

 Therapy Group:

  • Title: Building Resilience After the Fire
  • Dates/times: Tuesdays @11am - 2/11, 2/18, 2/25
  • Location: Counseling and Psychological Services. Building 66-116 (bookstore building)
  • Description: This is a 3-week, 50-minute in-person trauma re-processing group, utilizing EMDR therapy. EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment that facilitates the re-processing of traumatic memories in an adaptive manner and builds resilience. Students will utilize art therapy and will not be expected to verbally share their traumatic memories with the group. This group is for students who have been directly impacted by the Los Angeles area wildfires fires (i.e., this group will not be addressing other general trauma or complex childhood trauma).
  • Registration: Please call CAPS at (909)-869-3220 if you are interested in this group. A brief screening is required for this group.

Community Reflection Spaces with Community Partners (For Students Only)

All CAPS events are open to all Cal Poly Pomona students, regardless of how they identify. They are also a space for people of all backgrounds to explore, learn, connect and build coalition.
