Dietetic Internship Program

Application Information

  • APPLICATION PROCESS

The program uses the on-line centralized internship application system, DICAS (https://dicas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login).  There is a fee to use the DICAS platform.  Applicants are charged $50 for the first designation and $25 for each additional program designation.  The DICAS application for our program will be available beginning no later than December for the Spring 2025 Match. The on-line application must be completed for our program by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Feb. 1, 2025. 

When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an email address) for each reference. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online.

Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement for Cal Poly's internship include:

  • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
  • Why did you choose this internship?
  • What experiences have helped to prepare you for this program?
  • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses, or areas needing improvement?

Please limit your personal statement to 1,000 words.

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent directly to DICAS. 

INTERNSHIP ACCEPTANCE

Applicants will be notified by March 1 if they have been accepted into the program, or if they have been placed on a waitlist for the program.  

Applicants have until March 15 to confirm their acceptance of placement in the program, although earlier notification is always appreciated.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Cal Poly Pomona Application Requirements:

Provide only  three letters of recommendation.
* one must be from an RD/RDN
* one must be from a professor

Recommendations should be current, preferably submitted to DICAS within 6 months of application.

OTHER NEEDED FORMS

If you have completed your degree more than five years previously, include the  Recency of Education Form (PDF), also available on this website.

  • Recency of Education Form, if applicable.
