We lead a wide range of student-centered initiatives, including  Advising Technology, the Bronco Advising Center, Bronco Navigators, Bronco Scholars, College Access & Transitions, Early Alerts, the First-Year Experience, Graduation Pledge Programs, I Am First, the Learning Resource Center, PolyTransfer, RAMP, Student Success Communication, Undeclared Advising, and University Advising. These programs and services are strategically designed to empower students in achieving their goals.

Through our collaborative, intentional and strategic work, we develop a campus-wide network that offers timely, personalized guidance and fosters a sense of belonging. Aligned with Cal Poly Pomona’s mission and the CSU system’s strategic priorities, our efforts ensure that every student has equitable access to the opportunities they need to grow, excel, and graduate ready to thrive beyond the classroom.

What is student success at Cal Poly Pomona?

The mission of Cal Poly Pomona is to cultivate success through a diverse culture of experiential learning, discovery, and innovation.  Our vision is to be the model inclusive polytechnic university inspiring creativity and innovation, embracing local and global challenges, and transforming lives.  Cal Poly Pomona defines student success through an integrated polytechnic model that embraces a holistic view of student learning, engagement and growth; a paradigm that recognizes the student experience and opportunities for learning occur both in and out of the classroom.

Students’ cumulative experiences at Cal Poly Pomona are intentionally designed to engage with us in a life cycle that begins before matriculation and enrollment, and continues throughout degree pursuit and beyond graduation to career.  We recognize success for a Cal Poly Pomona student requires significant commitment from the student and the University.  The University provides world-class polytechnic programs where students learn to connect theory, practice, and research and apply it to real world problems.  Education is delivered through active, learning-centered approaches and experiential pedagogies.

Cal Poly Pomona is a highly diverse institution committed to the success of all of our students.  As such, the institution has set the eradication of the opportunity gap that currently exists between underrepresented students and those from non-underrepresented student populations as our top priority. The University views education through an equity lens and continuously seeks to reduce institutional barriers impeding students’ progress academically, socially, and developmentally.

At Cal Poly Pomona, we are committed to providing student experiences intended to develop skills to actively engage as a member of an inclusive community, effectively enlist personal competence, agency, and resilience, and to live a healthy and well life during and beyond college.  Cal Poly Pomona is focused on the holistic dimensions of student success and optimizing the likelihood our students ultimately realize their post-graduation goals.  A successful Cal Poly Pomona student possesses the polytechnic skills to face diverse challenges in the rapidly changing employment landscape, able to contribute solutions to the important issues facing our world, and prepared to positively engage with and contribute to the human enterprise.
