University Risk Response Plan
Cal Poly Pomona’s Health and Safety Plan and the University Risk Response Plan is informed by the principles that have guided the campus throughout the pandemic:
- Prioritizing health and safety
- Protecting and supporting our mission of academic excellence and student success
- Making decisions grounded in our values of equity and inclusion
- Providing timely and transparent communication and receiving input from campus stakeholders
The University Risk Response Plan provides a framework to mitigate transmission of COVID-19 on campus. To determine risk level, the Task Force analyzes numerous factors, including case rates on campus, case rates in Los Angeles County and surrounding counties, positivity rates, number of students and employees in quarantine or isolation, clusters or outbreaks, housing isolation and quarantine capacity, and vaccination rates.
The plan will continue to evolve to reflect county and state health requirements, best practices and scientific recommendations. Furthermore, county, state and other agencies may implement additional risk mitigation efforts based on campus and community conditions.
Risk mitigation measures that might be implemented include but are not limited to the examples noted below.
- Health Protocols: In alignment with public health orders, face coverings are individual preference indoors and required in certain settings.
- Classes: Teaching and learning continue as planned.
- Work and Offices: All offices and services open. Faculty and staff work on campus as planned.
