The Polytechnic Approach

Gain insights into the study and practice of history, take broad survey courses of critical periods and lay the foundation for upper-division studies. With our well-rounded approach, you will select from courses spanning international regions and periods, the US and Europe, and topical histories including sport and leisure, environmental and public history. Courses

The General History option offers a flexible curriculum ideal for students aiming for careers outside of secondary education. This option is suited for those pursuing pre-professional paths in law, business, civil service, or further academic study. It allows you to choose from a wide range of general education courses and electives, providing a strong foundation for careers involving research, analysis, and communication, such as law, foreign service, and various public or private sector roles.

Fang Yu Hu

Fang Yu Hu specializes in modern East Asian history, with a focus on Taiwan, gender, colonialism, and cross-border flows. Her current research focuses on Taiwanese migrants to mainland China and Southeast Asia in the first half of the 20th century.

Pre-Law at CPP

Cal Poly Pomona Pre-Law offers a variety of opportunities to help CPP students interested in attending law school explore legal careers and navigate the law school application process.
