About the Program
Become an impactful educator in the lives of young children as you help them develop foundational skills, foster positive relationships, and discover a love of learning that will support them for the rest of their lives. Through your influence, children can learn to be resilient, welcome and persist in problem-solving, resolve conflict, and develop an early appreciation for inquiry-based learning.
The Polytechnic Approach
Immerse yourself in the study of early childhood education as you prepare to work with children from birth to age eight. Study the influence of schools, families and communities on young learners. View theory and practice from a social justice perspective. Through hands-on classroom experience with a mentor teacher, service learning, internships, practicum and more, you will learn to support young children’s academic, social and emotional growth and find your dream career in early childhood teaching.
Career Outcomes
Courses
The Early Childhood Teaching option provides you with the skills, knowledge, dispositions and experience to work with children ages birth to eight. The culminating course requires you to complete 60 hours in an Early Learning and Care setting and apply what you have learned in your classes as you interact with children and families under the supervision of a mentor teacher and faculty member.
