Cal Poly Pomona is one of 12 university teams selected as finalists in NASA’s 2025 Human Lander Challenge, earning a $9,250 stipend to further develop their project, “THERMOSPRING: Thermal Exchange Reduction Mechanism using Optimized SPRING.” The competition challenges student teams to design innovative systems for storing and transferring cryogenic propellants, which are critical for future Moon and Mars missions. Finalists will present their detailed concepts at the Human Lander Competition Forum in June 2025 in Huntsville, Alabama, with the top three teams sharing an $18,000 prize. Aerospace Engineering Associate Professor Frank Chandler is the CPP team’s advisor.
