Cal Poly Pomona was ranked No. 2 Top Public Universities in the West and No. 3 among Best Regional Universities West on U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 U.S. Best Colleges ranking. The list’s western region covers 15 states and 118 schools.

The university was also recognized at No. 9 among Top Performers on Social Mobility – West, for its ability of helping students climb the ladder of economic success. For this list, the outlet examined which colleges enrolled and graduated large proportions of students receiving Pell Grants.

In the regional university category, “more than half of a school’s rank is again made up of outcome measures related to how successful an institution is at enrolling and graduating students from different backgrounds with manageable debt and postgraduation success,” according to the U.S. News data team. Also included is data on faculty resources, university financial resources, and a peer assessment of academic quality by university presidents, provosts and deans of admissions.

“Cal Poly Pomona’s student-centered approach ensures that our focus never waivers from what is most important, helping every student who dreams of success achieve it,” said President Soraya M. Coley. “I am pleased to see the achievements of our graduates recognized, and the tremendous work of our faculty and staff celebrated.”
