The Student Adventure Pass, which gives students free Metrolink train rides, has been extended through June 30, 2025. All Cal Poly Pomona students with a valid student ID can sign up for the pass to ride any Metrolink line to work, school or on an adventure without cost.

“The Metrolink Student Adventure Pass Program provides Cal Poly Pomona students with free train rides through June 2025, supporting both their transportation needs and our campus sustainability goals,” said Danny Wu, executive director of University Capital Planning & Transportation. “I encourage all eligible students to utilize this program for convenient and eco-friendly travel.”

Since the Southern California Regional Rail Authority piloted the program in October 2023, the Student Adventure Pass has been used more than a half a million times. Nearly 32,000 students from more than 550 schools, including Cal Poly Pomona, have registered for the program using the transportation agency’s mobile app or by purchasing a daily pass at train stations. The long-term aim of the program, which is directly administered by Metrolink, is to reduce California’s greenhouse gas emissions and improve transportation options for all students.

Students can take the Metrolink San Bernardino Line that stops at the Pomona-North Metrolink station and transfer for free to the Bronco Express Shuttle or take a Foothill Transit bus, by showing their Metrolink pass or using their free Foothill Transit Class Pass. Students can also take the Metrolink Riverside Line and transfer for free to a connecting Foothill Transit bus line at either the Downtown Pomona Station or the Industry Station.

A full list of train schedules, destinations and stations is on Metrolink’s website.

Metrolink issues new passes to students with registered mobile app accounts. The passes are valid until Dec. 31 with Metrolink expected to update the expiration date before the end of the calendar year.
