Cal Poly Pomona to Host Prestigious CSU Summer Arts Program

Dress Rehearsal for the Mr. Burns play

Cal Poly Pomona has been selected as the new home for the immersive CSU Summer Arts 2025-2029 seasons. The program provides innovative arts education as well as a vibrant array of exhibitions and performances that nurture the artistic spirit of students and community members.

Open to anyone over 16 years, this year’s program offered two-week courses in visual art & design, dance, an animation production studio, music, theatre and writing, primarily at Cal State Fresno and also augmented by classes in Germany, Italy and Mexico.

Cal Poly Pomona, which is known for its polytechnic, creative, hands-on learning, is routinely ranked among the best public universities in the West by U.S. News. Its relationships with leading professionals and companies in the arts and entertainment industry, including Pixar, Disney, Steinway, as well as local and regional arts institutions, add to the excitement of the CSU Summer Arts program moving to Southern California.

The university’s campus offers a wide range of traditional studios and advanced media labs, lecture and performance rooms, and formal and nontraditional performance spaces to support performances, exhibitions, study and social interaction. The density of fantastic arts institutions in the region adds a multitude of study and field trip possibilities.

Lead hosts for the CSU Summer Arts at Cal Poly Pomona will be the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences and College of Environmental Design. They will be supported by a wide range of faculty and staff across the university.

CSU Summer Arts was launched in 1985 as a summer dance program on the campus of Cal State Long Beach. The curriculum expanded the following year to include various arts genres. For more than 35 years, CSU Summer Arts has united artists and students, igniting passions and enriching lives through the arts.
