The 6th Annual PolyX Showcase, hosted by Innovation Incubator, recently highlighted the work of 531 students across various disciplines, symbolizing a commitment to nurturing creativity and academic prowess.
The Nov. 16 event epitomized the essence of the Polytechnic Experience (PolyX), showcasing students' academic journeys shaped by mentorship, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.
Valentina Evers, an environmental biology major, presented her inaugural research project exploring the correlation between sleep and student engagement in the classroom. Her study revealed that students getting five to eight hours of sleep tend to participate more actively in class discussions.
Offering advice to first-time researchers, Evers recommended setting early deadlines to organize research effectively.
Similarly, Ariana Leyva, a nutrition and health major, debuted her research on campus food waste prevention. Leyva emphasized the significance of thorough communication within research teams for an enhanced understanding and an enjoyable project experience.
The showcase provided a platform for students to present their comprehensive research through engaging poster displays, fostering lively discussions and interactions among attendees. It was a celebration of scholarly achievement, where students demonstrated their expertise, creativity, and innovation solutions, empowering them to address challenges within their respective fields.
