CPP's Global Campus and the College of Professional and Global Education recently welcomed a high-ranking higher education delegation from China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE).
Officials from 14 Chinese universities visiting the U.S. as part of their trip to the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) in Las Vegas, Nevada attended the Nov. 9 event on campus in the Kellogg West auditorium. The group also visited UCLA while in California.
Their visit to Cal Poly Pomona included lunch with representatives from the Education Office from the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, a campus tour and a panel discussion about ideas and opportunities for international cooperation between the United States and China in a post-pandemic era. In her welcome remarks, President Soraya M. Coley said "China is one of our most important strategic partners in the world. During the global pandemic, we have successfully delivered many online programs to the students from our partner universities in China." When addressing the delegation of visiting scholars, she added "We consider this a wonderful opportunity to explore the ways in which we can shape a better world together."
Present at the event was also Madam Fu Bo, deputy secretary general of China Education Association for International Exchange. When addressing future collaboration between Chinese universities and Cal Poly Pomona she said, "The future of mankind faces many uncertainties, which makes collaboration and exchanges even more valuable to address global issues." She also added, "As a national organization in the China education sector, China Education Association for international exchange is dedicated to promoting educational exchanges and collaboration between China and the world."
The event also provided representatives from local U.S. universities with a chance to network with Chinese universities and discuss possible collaboration opportunities to broaden the international footprint in higher education.
The visit enabled Cal Poly Pomona to promote international education, which aligns with CPP's strategic plan and academic master plan, as well as boost international exchange and study abroad programs with the goal of establishing a global presence.
