Cal Poly Pomona is ranked No. 2 Top Public School in the West and No. 3 among Best Regional Universities West in the U.S. News & World Report's 2024 U.S. Best Colleges ranking. Nearly 1,500 four-year bachelor's degree-granting institutions were evaluated.

The university also tied for No. 4 among Top Performers on Social Mobility - West, which examined colleges that enroll and graduate large proportions of students receiving Pell Grants, the size of their students' debt and the percentage of graduates earning more than high school graduates.

The list's western region covers 15 states, and 115 schools were ranked. For this year's analysis, "U.S. News & World Report made refinements to this year's rankings formula by dropping five longstanding factors, modifying the weights of several other factors, and introducing a few new ones," they noted in the overview of their methodology. "We increased the emphasis on how often schools' students from all socioeconomic backgrounds earned degrees and took advantage of information on graduate outcomes that was not available until recently."

The changes helped propel Cal Poly Pomona to the No. 3 spot this year among Best Regional Universities West, up from No. 14 in the 2022 and 2023 compilations.

Cal Poly Pomona has approximately 25,000 undergraduate students, and more than 70 percent of undergraduate Broncos receive some form of financial aid. During the 2022-23 academic year, $246 million was awarded through a variety of financial aid programs including grants, loans, scholarships, fellowships, veterans' aid and work study.
