The College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE) recently hosted a cultural exchange event at the International Center with a group of students from two universities in South Korea, along with CPP staff and faculty.

The two-hour July 14 event saw attendees participate in a table activity, enjoy lunch, and watch a Korean folk song performance.

A total of 42 students and 1 teacher from Konkuk University and Soongeui Women's College in South Korea attended courses at CPP. They were part of the English Language and Cultural Excursion Summer Program, which took place from July 2 to July 26.

The event showcased the collaborative efforts among different units within CPGE and departments across the campus. There was representation of CPP faculty, staff and students at each of the round table activities.

Rick Wang, the senior program manager of the Global Education Institute (GEI) and organizer of the event, said that the goal was to represent the spirit of international collaboration.

"We are proud to create a platform for cultural understanding and appreciation with them," Wang said. "We want to foster meaningful connections and create lasting memories".

The collaboration for this program began last summer with Pacific States University (PSU) in Los Angeles, which has strong ties to Korea. PSU organizes students from Konkuk University and Soonguei Women's College to join Cal Poly Pomona. Last year, CPGE was honored with a visit from the president of Konkuk University, during which a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to solidify partnership between CPP and their university.
