Cal Poly Pomona is celebrating Women's History Month in a variety of ways during the month of March.

CPP invites the community to attend events, explore the Womxn's Resource Center on campus, read about the long line of great women associated with Cal Poly Pomona and even utilize the university's zoom background themed for Women's History Month.

The Womxn's Resource Center's flagship event during Women's History Month is the Women's Leadership Institute on March 18, a leadership development conference designed to empower participants to reflect on their academic and personal journeys. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the agenda is packed with workshops, community building, mentorship and networking opportunities designed to inspire attendees to become leaders. The event is free for all women-identifying students at CPP but there are only 75 spots available and the deadline to RSVP is March 10.

On March 14, the University Library will host a panel discussion featuring three leading Chicana student organizers of the historic East Los Angeles High School "Blowouts." The event, "Chicanas en El Movimiento - Commemorating 55 Years of Educational Struggle," will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. in the grand reading room on the third floor.

The African American Student Center is hosting "Black Women's Empowerment: High Socie(Tea)," an online event on March 15 from noon to 1:30 p.m. celebrating the empowerment of Black women.

The CPP community is always invited to check out the Womxn's Resource Center - in person in Building 95 or on Instagram at @cppwrc, where various women are being highlighted throughout March.

From the first women hired at a then all-male CPP campus in 1957 to a pair of current professors who have written a book series about some of the most important women in American history, there is plenty of education to be had about women who have tremendously impacted Cal Poly Pomona. There are an array of clubs on campus to explore during Women's History Month. Below are a few recommendations.
