The PolyX FYE First Year Experience Showcase allows students in the FYE program to present the Signature Polytechnic Experience (PolyX) they complete in their first semester to the campus community.
This year, the event formerly known as the LTD FYE Showcase, returns to fully in-person, enabling first-year students to directly engage with guests and share the results of their learn-by-doing projects. The showcase takes place on Nov. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bronco Student Center's Ursa Major A, B and C.
"The PolyX FYE Showcase is an event that gives Cal Poly Pomona first-year students the opportunity to present their projects with an audience of over 200 students, faculty, and staff," said Ericka Olguin, senior innovator of the newly created Innovation Incubator.
"The event represents a Signature Polytechnic Experience (PolyX) by showcasing their work through intense mentorship, collaborative learning, community and global engagement, critical thinking and problem solving, diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives, and creativity, discovery, and innovation. The event provides our first-year students with a sense of belonging on campus and the confidence to succeed through their college career and beyond."
A Signature Polytechnic Experience aims to promote the students' discovery of the opportunities and challenges within the field they are researching and the development of creative and innovative solutions to those conditions. Through collaborative learning and intense mentoring, PolyX engages students beyond the classroom and prepares them for professional and civic success. Students will display their research on a poster board to present their work and answer questions to all attending guests.
