Internships give students valuable real-life experiences that prepare students to be successful in their future careers. By students applying their classroom knowledge, they are experiencing Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy through gaining hands-on work experiences. Because internships help become students become career ready, they are highly encouraged to have at least one internship before graduation.

Micro-internships bridge the gap for those who are interested in testing out different industries prior to launching their careers. They are short-term, paid, and professional projects that are open to all students and recent graduates.

One of Cal Poly Pomona's campus-wide initiatives promoted through the new Innovation Incubator is micro-internships. Students interested in launching their careers, exploring career paths and building their networks as they seek the right full-time position are encouraged to apply for micro-internships on Parker Dewey, a site they can access through the Innovation Incubator web page.

Unlike traditional internships, micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from five to 40 hours of work, and are completed between one week and one month after kick-off. From students applying for micro-internships, there are vast opportunities available to gain experience from companies ranging from those in Fortune 100 to start-ups.
