Centerpointe Dining Commons, nestled between new residence halls and the Student Services Building, will officially open Jan. 21, offering fresh and local menus for the Cal Poly Pomona community.
With seating for 680, Centerpointe includes eight dining platforms with delicious and nutritious food stations featuring items, such as handmade tortillas, sushi, a carving station, a salad bar featuring campus grown produce, and plenty of vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free and vegetarian options.
The menu boards at each platform will highlight nutritional information, allergens and food preference mapping. In addition, each menu will contain a nutrition tool (updated by the Dining Services in-house nutritionist) for customers to determine which food options best fit their nutritional needs and goals. Menu and nutrition information will also be available on the dining website.
Two new retail outlets within Centerpointe - Lollicup Fresh® and Jones Coffee Roasters® - will offer coffee beverages, flavored milk tea, fruit tea, grab and go items, slushes and smoothies.
The new dining facility has a specialty late-night dining area with a 10×15-foot video screen that can host a variety of events. The facility also has three private, reservable dining rooms for faculty, staff and students.
With sustainability in mind, the 35,000 square foot building will utilize traceable ingredients, locally grown produce and a reusable to-go container program.
A grand opening celebration with food and entertainment will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Centerpointe is managed by the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc. a Section 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that operates as a recognized auxiliary of the California State University.
