Faculty and staff joined Cal Poly Pomona President Soraya M. Coley and other campus leaders for a Campus Conversation focused on the campus-wide strategic initiative "The Future of Work and Human & Civic Engagement." The meeting was held on Nov. 7, 2019.
The Future of Work and Human & Civic Engagement is Cal Poly Pomona's effort to catalogue, create, and promote the activities and programs that ensure students will succeed long after they leave campus. More than 200 faculty and staff attended the conversation. The conversation included presentations from Pres. Coley, Provost Sylvia Alva, and Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Eileen Sullivan. Topics included an update on the initiative, the emphasis on preparing career- and future-ready students, and how the initiative connects to the Academic Master Plan. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion featuring faculty who attended the annual Institute on Project-Based Learning at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
President Coley launched the Campus Conversations in fall 2018 as an opportunity for the campus community to consider important university matters. The first conversation was held in Fall 2018 and focused on understanding the campus budget. The conversation on April 30, 2019, covered Cal Poly Pomona's comprehensive student success efforts.
