Caltrans plans to close the westbound San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) off-ramp at Kellogg Drive on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and re-open on Friday, Aug. 23. The 10-day closure is part of the Caltrans High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Project that will add an HOV lane to I-10, helping to alleviate traffic congestion.
More information about the closure, as well as project updates, are listed on the university's Compass website.
The I-10 westbound on-ramp at Kellogg Drive is in the midst of a 90-day closure and is scheduled to re-open August 14.
Here are a few alternate routes to campus when traveling west on the I-10:
- Exit Fairplex Drive, which is the exit that precedes Kellogg Drive. Turn left onto Fairplex Drive and quickly turn right onto Murchison Avenue after crossing over I-10. Murchison Avenue will become Ridgeway Street. Turn right onto South Campus Drive after passing under the CA-71 and arrive at Cal Poly Pomona.
- Exit Fairplex Drive. Turn left onto Fairplex Drive and proceed to the intersection of West Holt Avenue and Valley Blvd. Turn right onto Valley Blvd. Turn right at Kellogg Drive and arrive at Cal Poly Pomona.
- Exit Via Verde Street and turn left. Turn left onto the I-10 eastbound on-ramp after passing under the freeway. Exit Kellogg Drive and turn right to arrive at Cal Poly Pomona.
The westbound off-ramp closure is expected to increase traffic at the Fairplex Drive and Via Verde Street exits off the I-10 during the morning commute hours. Please plan accordingly to ensure safe and timely travel to campus.
Additional information about the project is available on the Caltrans District 7 website at https://www.dot.ca.gov/d7/projects/10/10-hov.html. Additional FAQs and a map of the closures is available on the university's Compass website. Caltrans has shared that closure and alternate route information is also available on Waze through the mobile apps and live map.
